About Real AI Basics

Most "best AI tool" sites are written by people who never opened the tools. They rephrase marketing pages, slap affiliate links on everything, and call it a review. You can tell within ten seconds.

Real AI Basics exists because that's exhausting. Every recommendation here starts with a real person sitting down, using the tool on something they actually needed to do, and writing down what happened, including the parts that were confusing, slow, or broken.

Who's behind it

Hu White, a non-developer who works with AI all day and got tired of guessing which tools were worth the time. The perspective here is deliberately non-technical: if a tool needs a tutorial to set up, that's a mark against it, not a feature.

How we stay honest

  • Affiliate links never change a rating. We've rated tools we earn from a 4/10.
  • Every article is tagged with how it was made: hands-on tested, benchmarked, or desk-researched.
  • See the full testing methodology and our affiliate disclosure.
